If you recall my last post I was trying out the new, to me, Frogg Togg Chilly pad.
Friday was the best day for it. 92 degree weather with 100% humidity, which threw the heat index up over 101! And all this at 5pm! It was miserable hot!
I took my cloth, ran it under warm water, rang it out, and draped it around my neck.
It definitely stayed cool. And it kept the back of my neck cool, which did help me out allot.
The only problem I had with it, I had to re-wet it a few times. I guess I just don't sweat enough to keep that thing wet enough.
But for me, it was definitely worth it. I am sure it would be well worth if for someone who sweats like normal people. ;0)

Frogg Togg...more product testing
Last spring, when Isaac and Bella played baseball, it was soooo frikkin' hot!
We were sitting on metal bleachers in 92 degree weather.
I saw a lady take a cloth out of her bag, shake it a couple of times and wrap it around her baby daughters neck.
Now you can bet everyone was thinking the same thing I was..."that poor kid, she's gonna burn up!"
Someone finally got brave enough to ask her WTH!
She showed us all the cloth, you shake it out and it gets cold, and stays cold as long as it is damp!
The baby really seemed to like it.
I decided I had to have one, the heat was awful!
I found one last week at Wally world and bought it.
Since PB has a bum wing and I have to do all his "chores", that puts me cutting grass for one of the Grandbrats birthday party this weekend.
You can bet I am going to pull this sucker out and give it a try.
I have been known to wet a kitchen towel and wrap it around my neck, and it does help. But it also gets so hot so fast that you have to keep re-wetting it with cold water.
The package says that it absorbs sweat and stays cool.
So, today when I am out there about to die from heat exhaustion, we will see how good, or bad this thing works.
Now straight up out of the package, it's cool, it feels great across the back of your neck, but trudging around the yard in full sun, pushing a lawn mower? Well, we will just have to see!

Miami Beach on the 4th
We spent the fourth having a great time on the beach.
The Atlantic was not as warm as the Gulf side, but it was a great day.
Then we found the cutest little inlet to have a seat and watch fireworks from three different sides.
Miami really is beautiful at night!

On to Homestead
Once we left Naples, we struck out across the Everglades.
The pictures from that are on the camera and will be posted later.
We made it to Randy's in record time and we were soon at my new favorite place to eat.

Broccoli Soup: one for the girls
This request was put in before we went on vacation, why that crazy kid thought I had time to sit down and add something to the blog BEFORE vacation, I don't know.
But we love her anyway, and here is her recipe.
One bag frozen broccoli, (once again, if you can't make it to the garden)
One can evaporated milk
Butter
Milk (...were you thinking to ask me how much?)
Take a stick of butter and your bag of frozen broccoli and slow cook it in a heavy medium sized pot until the broccoli is soft. (here is personal preference, I like my broccoli almost mushy, so that you get smaller pieces in the soup)
Add the can of evaporated milk, and at least one can of whole (2%, low fat, whatever) milk.
I add enough whole milk to fill my pot up the rest of the way.
The whole point is, you need at least as much whole milk as evaporated, or your gonna end up running to the rest room all night long. (just a little side note) ;0)
Heat to just before boiling, stirring constantly or your milk will clabber (yes that's a real word, and you know what I mean ;0)
Thicken with a mixture of hot water and flour to desired consistency.
Some people don't even thicken theirs and eat it like it is, I like mine in between Golden Corral and T&A truck stop consistency.
Salt and pepper to taste.
Another side note, if you do happen to like the Golden Corral version, add shredded cheddar cheese after it is ready.
And if you are making this for my grandbrats, don't forget the grilled cheese sammiches to dip in there!

More Naples pics
It was a long trip before we finally made it to Naples.

But once we arrived it turned into an awesome vacation from there on out!

Vacation was awesome! Naples
Get ready for some pics!
In Naples the Gulf water was so warm it was like taking a bath!
PB had his toes in the sand and his ass in the water.
A little backwards I know, but hey! It's vacation!

Naples Florida
OMG this place is adorable!
After losing any hope of ever getting out of the car again, we finally made it to Naples where we have found the cutest hotel room at a Best Western of all places, a mile from the beach.
Far enough away to be out of the 24 hour bustle but close enough to saunter in a cool evening breeze.
A tip from someone who has done it, unless you just want hundreds of miles of swamp land to finish reading your copy of Fifty Shades of Gray, while someone else is driving, don't take scenic route 98.
From Panama City to Chiefland there is nothing but flooded swamp.

Road Trip!
For the first time in 16 years together, five kids and five grandbrats later, PB and I finally get a vacation.
A week off together, riding down the coast of Florida checking out the beaches and headed to Miami to spend a few days with a dear friend.

Rapid Wrinkle Repair Day7
Ok so, what do you think?
I think my skin looks better and feels smoother, but aren't those wrinkles?
Why must I ALWAYS fall into the 5 to 20% of women that this stuff will not work on. Lol!
Honestly tho, they are not as bad as they were.
We will check back in another week and see how it's going.

Tomato Gravy-for my girls
One of the brats has gotten together with one of the other brats and requested that I post my recipe for tomato gravy on the blog.
I guess that is better than writing it down and 'someone' losing it. (you know who you are)
It's all very simple and when I tell you your gonna go "ah hell that's so simple"
I warn you I can only make this in large amounts but it shouldn't be hard to adjust for a smaller meal once you have the hang of it.
Tomato Gravy
1 can of whole peeled tomatoes (if your not lucky enough to pull up at mom's house with your little basket in tow to pick your own;0)
1 package of bacon
1 large onion
Milk ( don't ask how much, you'll see if you keep reading )
Dice your onion and sauté it with your bacon until the onions are almost clear. Or until you have enough grease floating around in the pot to flavor up the tomato gravy really good.
Pour the can of tomatoes into the pot with the bacon and onions and cook on medium till the tomatoes have cooked down a bit. Stirring occasionally
Hint: the longer and slower they cook the better they will taste. I have been known to slow cook my tomatoes for four or five hours, or cook the whole meal in about an hour.
Add milk, I don't measure so all I can tell you is I add milk until it turns a little orange. Fresh tomatoes will be lighter with the milk than canned.
Simmer just a little while longer to get the milk flavor settled in.
Hint: if you want your gravy thicker, thicken with flour and water. We like ours somewhere between soup and gravy.
Serve over home made(yeah I went there) biscuits or rice.
That's it! Simple simple and I better get some great big "I tried this and it was great! Mom!"

Tramp stamp
I've had mine since before they were cool, then not cool, then cool again.
Mine doesn't sit as low as most girls have them, I didn't want someone to have to look at my crack to see my tattoo.
It's a blue rose with a vine entwined with the stem, and it says Purdy.
I love mine!

Rapid Wrinkle Repair Day 1
Well I've been using the serum for one day. Probably not long enough to see a difference.
What do you think (besides DAMN! that girl needs some make up!)
I like to think I see some difference, but I'm pretty sure that's hopeful thinking.

Trying something new
Do you see those lines?! Ok let's call a duck a duck, those wrinkles?!
I watched a commercial about this Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair....
Well this is what my face looks like now, it says it only takes a week to see a difference.
Let's see!
